Important Update for our BCC Family,
As we all find ourselves in times of uncertainty it is great to know that we serve a God that is in absolute control. Even if it may look like things are hopeless and lost, we know that God is at work. Paul tells us, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:6-7, NIV). In times like this we have to turn to God to find our peace. As I mentioned last Sunday morning, I am writing you to update you on the changes that we are making.
After listening and taking in all the information from our national and local leaders, along with much prayer, thought and conversations. We have come to the decision that we will temporarily be closing our public services on campus. Yesterday both our national and local governments have asked that no groups of 50 or more continue to meet in efforts to control the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19). Though we have faith in God and know that He is in control, we also want to be wise and honor the leaders that God has placed over our city and country.
With that being said, unfortunately we will be canceling all of our midweek and weekend services until further notice. This will include our Truth Seeker’s Service this Tuesday (Mar. 17) nor will we have any of our Wednesday night services which includes Adult Bible Study and Encompass Youth. These closures will also include our Sunday morning services because our church service ministers to more than 50 people at a time. These decisions did not come easy to us because we love and value our time together with you. However, more than that we love you and we want to make sure that everyone stays healthy. When this time passes, we will come back together publicly. We will also be postponing our upcoming BCC Family Day and Rummage Sale until further notice.
The great news is that church will go on. Though we cannot meet in the physical church building, the church body cannot be stopped. We are working hard to make sure that you have the opportunity to connect with us this weekend online. Over the past year, we have already been taking steps to be able to share our service with the online world and now we are ready to take this next step. The heart of our leadership is to make sure that we continue to meet the needs of every member the best that we can. Later this week, we will be sending you information on how and when to join our online services this weekend. For the time being, we will continue to hold our community groups during the week. This is a great way of continuing to have community with others during this time. If you are not involved with a group already we would love nothing more than to help you find a group to join.
So, what does this mean for you? It means that you have the opportunity to be the church. There are people all around us that are looking for the answer that you have inside of you which is Jesus. God loves nothing more than to show how big He is during times like this and he loves nothing more than to do it through people like us. Though we cannot meet together, we can still share Jesus and BCC with your family and friends at home. I know that this news is not the happiest news to share but just remember that it will not be forever. We are looking forward to and counting down the days that we will be back in church together again. Please know that we are praying for you and coveting your prayers for us. Just know that God has a plan and we are all a part of it. We will be in touch soon. As always, you will find updates via email, our church app, or website.
